Private William McBride

 

The background of this man is not known at present.

William McBride enlisted at Belfast on 24 May 1917. He was described as being 5' 9" tall, and stated that he was 19 years old, was born in Ballymacarrett, Belfast, and worked as a labourer.

Between 23 and 26 June 1917 he was posted to the North Irish Horse (regimental number 2549). He was reported to have deserted from the regiment's reserve base at Antrim on 28 July 1917. It is not known if he was subsequentially apprehended.
